Swedish Midsummer Day

In Sweden the 21st June is a red day (public holiday) but they officially celebrate Midsummer on the nearest weekend, this year on Saturday 22nd, and part of the celebration is on Midsummer eve, Friday the 21st this year (2019).

It is traditional for children to dress up and wear flowers in their hair (I saw some today) and dance around Maypoles.

MIdsummer is normally the start of the school holidays and many begin their annual five week holiday. The roads were very quiet and almost everywhere was closed.

Seven hours travelling today (five hours riding), which was tiring as although the temperature was OK (~20 C) there was a head wind or cross wind most of the way.
